I'm getting married in Oahu and I really need help finding a legit service to use. Please dont tell me a website unless you've used it because I've seen all these websites as well but the problem is I don't know if they're reliable.I don't want a 12 year old kid to show up as a photographer with Polaroid

My guy and I are planning a wedding surprise dinner for our family in Feb. I am the eldest of 6 and by the time each sibling attends with their loves add my mother and her husband, my father and my step father, we're already at 10 persons!
So since money is tight, we decided to forgo the big wedding thing and just do the honeymoon part. We're going to have an informal dinner party at a nearby empty barn, used for rental hall space with our 50 closest friend and family. Drinks will be byob, with a Champagne toast provided as well as a keg. A family friend has agreed to provide food for a dinner party and another friend, DJ will play. No one knows but us, after dinner we will announce that we are going to leave for a wedding on the beach in Maui, I've already booked the tickets which only cost $2,000 round trip, 7 nights in a honeymoon suite. There is a company on the island that charges $500 for the wedding ceremony and they include licensing services, 2 hours with a reputable (i checked with a friend who lives there) photographer at various location on the islands beaches and a photo album including a CD of photos.
Our dream wedding only cost $2,500! Less than $3000 to include the dinner and rental space for all of my family as well. I am so happy to be saving so much as we a strapped for cash. We're not in the poor house, we're paying our bills and taking care of ourselves, but since I am a student and our daughter is almost one, we aren't left over with too much to play with.
So I entered a contest to win a wedding dress. It is the last key piece to my perfect wedding. The only thing I ask of you, is to vote for my entry. I cannot send it to friends and family because we want to surprise them with the announcement at the dinner the night before our flight so I can only rely on complete strangers for help.

Honeymoon in Hawaii, Sept 2008?
Our wedding is in Sept of 08, and i am thinking about having our honeymoon in Hawaii since both of us have never been there before. (hopefully that is not the busy season?)
What i got from readin most of the answers/questions is that Oahu and Maui would be the top two (island) choices.
1. Overall, We would like to stay maybe 5-7 days. Which island would best accommodate us and what would the price range be? (We do prefer a 3 or 4 star+ resort)
2. What are the pros/cons of those two islands that i need to be aware of? Each island offers something different that the other island don't, so maybe we should go over to the other island using ferrry?
3. Is it better to get a vacation package deal or book them separately. (is one airline better than the other?)
thanks for all the help
thanks for responding! I am still debating about what month we should be going? We do want to enjoy some water activiaties and maybe whale watching. (How's the weather in Dec?, is the water still warm enough for us to dive it?)
thanks
We want to get married in Maui, Hawaii (Wailea) in July?
My fiance and I want to get married this summer, end of June or early to mid July, in Maui, Hawaii. I like the Wailea area. Ultimately, I'd like to stay at the Grand Wailea but am open to other resorts (although we could marry at the resort or have the ceremony elsewhere but stay there instead).
I've always wanted a candlelight ceremony and in a church or chapel. I'd also prefer to have a pastor marry us. We're not super religious but we want it to be a holy ceremony or have religious elements to the ceremony or vows. The "Grand" has a package like that but it's just going to be us...and maybe a couple of friends??? Basically, something simple, with candles and roses. I do want a videographer and photographer. And, I have no idea who I'd go to either to do my hair and make-up (but a resort should have a salon). A recommendation for that however, would be great...this is the day I should look exceptionally beautiful so I'm nervous to go somewhere I've never been and unfamiliar with not knowing what I'm going to look like afterwards! =)
We want to vacation there so why not elope there too! And due to cost of travel for friends and family, we've decided that eloping while vacationing would be lovely and then we'd have a reception with everyone here in our home town and leave the reception celebration on our boat during a popular August boating event. =)
Now that I've provided some of the details of what we've decided, I could use some help or suggestions on how we can make this happen! Cost is a factor...especially with a new baby on the way (but at least I have LOTS of air travel miles which should take care of our airfare)! I'm terrible at planning vacations, let alone one that would involve a wedding ceremony!
Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences, and providing suggestions and recommendations (hopefully based on experience!) to make our special day amazing in paradise!
How do I plan a Maui Wedding next Spring when I live in California today?
My fiance and I want to get married in Maui on February 16, 2007. We both live in California. How do we find a venue? Should we hire a wedding coordinator? Are their options to the overpriced resorts and hotels, like a beach-side or tropical garden location.
