If you’re taking a taxi, you can always ask the taxi driver to recommend. Or even someone in your hotel, staff, guest.

Hula Grill at Whalers Village SC in Kaanapali is a beach front, casual-yet-nice restaurant. Food is very good.

In Lahaina city, Pacific’O restaurant, at 505 Front st., serves tasty, fresh food and has a great ocean view.

If you’d like to go sort of inexpensive-but-tasty, try Aloha Mixed Plate in Lahaina.
They serve various kinds of grilled plate and noodles like Saimin (Hawiian style ramen) on the beach and food is very good.

The beach front restaurant at Four Seasons Resort in Wailea is always nice (and expensive), but you need to drive all the way down to the south….. nearby the club house restaurant at the Wailea golf course has beautiful ocean view over the green hills and palm trees. It’s very romantic.
Enjoy Maui!

In my opinion, the best view for dinner on Maui is the sunset view from Plantation House, the restaurant in the clubhouse of the Plantation Golf Course in Kapalua. It is about a 15 minute drive north from Kaanapali. There is a picture of the sunset view from that restaurant, plus some pictures of the food and a list of menu items, on this page:
http://www.mauihawaii.org/restaurants/plantation-house.htm
That same website has photos and menu lists from many other Maui restaurants.
If you don’t want to drive, but want something you can walk to on Kaanapali Beach, the best sunset view is at Cascades restaurants in the Hyatt. View and food pictures here:

If you are looking for the best mid-day view, instead of sunset view, then I suggest Hula Grill (also on Kaanapali Beach):

Also, my favorite part of the island is Wailea….no tso much view, but here are some of my favs in that part of the island:
For quick burger/lunch/cheap: Mulligans
Spago
Nick’s Fishmarket
Humuhumu…
In Keihei, a great view would be Sarento’s on the beach…very good, romantic, Italian

I like Cheeseburger in Paradise. You actually are ON the beach.
